Electri-Lab uses the latest in XRF (X-ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy) technology. We recommend an ongoing program of random RoHS testing of your raw materials and your end product to ensure compliance.

How XRF Testing works

XRF bombards your sample with x-rays. These rays are then either absorbed or scattered throughout the material. This ejects electrons from the inner shells, creating an unstable condition. As a result, outer shell electrons are transferred to the inner shells, and give off characteristic x-rays allowing the identification of the sample's elemental composition. Our skilled staff analyzes the result and gives you a detailed RoHS Testing report, which you then keep on file in order to demonstrate your compliance with the RoHS directive.

RoHS restrictions we sample include: Cadmium, Lead, Mercury, Hexavalent Chromium, Polybrominated Biphenyl (PBB) & Polybrominated Diphenyl Ether. (PBDE)

Screening Process: Samples are screened for elemental and structural composition using the latest XRF technology process. Registered readings for each screened element are compared to RoHS compliance tolerances and confidential results reported to you in a detailed results document.

Sample Submission: Samples should be at the raw material stage for best screening results. Call us with your specific RoHS sample screening requests and we will advise you of what we need to accurately screen your sample. Samples should have a uniform composition, examples are: solders, coatings, resins, or plating materials used in the manufacture of parts or components.
